Pickles in a Salad

Did you know you can make any sandwich into a salad at Subway?  I ordered a veggie salad and saw the sandwich maker throw in pickles.  What?  Oh no! Was my salad ruined?  Actually, the pickles atop the veggie salad, with a bit of Ranch dressing turned out to be delicious!  Who knew?

Tank Dress

Did you know you can order online from Hobby Lobby?  We visited the store today, and my niece got some of the cutest drawer knobs for her dresser!  Here are a few of the ones available - and they're 50% off in the store this week!

Food Display - Easy!

At my son's wedding, his fiance' used some of the items she made to display goodies on the dessert table. This included cute stands made from an old candlestick and an inexpensive plate.  Check out this one I found similar to it - so easy to make! Just glue them together!

Fried Brussels

Fried Brussel Sprouts - the most delicious side dish - EVER - served up in Austin, TX at Gourdoughs.  Not sure of the recipe, but here's one from the Food Network - add some parmesan and I bet it tastes good!

Surprise

We planned a rehearsal lunch for my son and his fiance today. I was told to share one thing we did.  See the bags we used as centerpieces?  Inside each one was a surprise gift for the bride/groom - and they went to each table to open.  I told them that when they "dine" with the Lord throughout their marriage, may they always be surprised by what he has for them at His table.

Street Tacos

I had street steak tacos tonight at Taco Cabana, a local fast food restaurant in my town.  They were delicious!  Here's a recipe I found on line.  It looks a bit labor intensive - so I would opt for store bought pico already made up.  Low in calories, and under $5 if you have a Taco Cabana near you!

Ice cream bar at a wedding - what fun.  That's what we had tonight.  Why not have one at your next event? Memorial Day is coming up, and then July 4, so why not make it red, white and blue?

Churros

Tonight we had hot churros with an icing-type sauce and a warm chocolate sauce from a restaurant, so I found a recipe to try at home! Oh my goodness, they are good...

Great Taco

Made a great taco filling today - cubed potatoes fried in olive oil then set aside - brown italian sweet sausage with chopped onion, then add paprika, oregano, cumin and chili powder - with salt and pepper.  Serve in a tortilla with salsa!

Chicago dog

I don't even like hot dogs, really.  But a Chicago dog is delicious, mainly because all of the toppings make the dish almost like a hot dog salad!  Check out this recipe and try it.

Berries on Top

Helped throw a bridal shower today for my future daughter-in-law.  We had mini pancakes as one of the dishes, topped with walnuts, whipped cream, and a berry topping.  Try this berry topping next time you serve pancakes for breakfast...or dinner!

Hide Clutter

Baskets are great for shelves.  You can take games, DVD's, movies, small books and other shelf clutter - store it all in a basket - and the shelf looks clean and great!  Found some cute gray baskets today from Family Dollar - yes!  I couldn't find a photo of them, but here is one from IKEA for under $10.

Roll Up Your Sleeves
